I spent 2 weeks in Pori and witnessed the launching of Pori Womens Association and also during Christmas, the member for Tari Pori and National Minister for Education, The Hon James Marabe opened a satellite landline telephone installed at Pori donated through the CIEDA Projects. It was a Christmas blessing for Pori Community with a computer and a fax machine with the satellite disc. All have been installed at the back of the library building and the 6 land lines connected to one server.
Currently the lines are open and Pori community making free calls untill such time all the 6 lines will be blocked for out going calls and the public will be buying telikards for making out going calls. The Pori station is currently using a small 5KV generator owned by a local man and used on a hired bases. We a praying for a bigger and better generator to supply electricity to the whole community including the mission station, health centre and Pori primary school.
The Minister for Education will be launching the CIEDA organisation in April, 2010. Currently, the Pori community will be working on the airstrip and doing preparations for the launching of CIEDA organisation. The Pori Womens Association is an interdenominational Christian association covering the Duna dialect speaking group of women in Koroba, Kopiago and Pori districts.
